Al-Fajr

Fajr is the first prayer of the day, offered in darkness, in the quiet before the world wakes, when the first amber light begins to press through the horizon. This design was inspired by that moment. Its ground is a deep Moroccan trellis of dark blue- a mashrabiya screen, the carved lattice that filters light in the great buildings of North Africa and Andalusia- and through it, the mihrab glows with a warm, molten amber, like the light of a lantern seen from within, or the first breath of dawn through an ancient window. It is the most contemporary design in the collection and perhaps the most poetic: a prayer mat that asks you to begin your day by standing inside a sunrise.
